An Interview With

Brandon Blumhardt

Born in South Bend, Indiana, I moved to Nashville with my mom when I was two, so I’ve pretty much lived here in Nashville my whole life!  I first started coming to Eastgate in 2009 on and off when I was a teenager in the youth group. I got disconnected from Eastgate for several years as my family shifted from place to place, but then God reconnected me to one of the worship team members in 2016.  In a very vulnerable time in my life, he invited me to one of Eastgate’s worship nights, and God used that to completely transform my life.  I’ve never looked back since, and I now serve as a worship team member and a youth director along side my fiancé, Abby.

Outside of serving at Eastgate, I work at a pharmaceutical company as the systems administrative assistant (which just so happens to be across the street!). I am also very passionate about music, as I play a whole slew of instruments and love writing songs.  I’m an avid photographer, and I enjoy capturing moments of my friends, family, and city.  One of my favorite things to do is to take Abby out on breakfast dates, and we’re currently searching for Nashville’s best biscuits!  I’m so thankful that God has me where I am.  I’m super excited for the future of Eastgate and the work we are doing in Nashville for God’s kingdom.

An Interview With

Abigail Mccormick

Born and raised in a Christian home in Nashville, I’m a true Nashville native.  I have been a part of the Eastgate family since 2013, where I have served both on the worship team and in the youth ministry.  I am now one of the two youth directors here at Eastgate, alongside my wonderful soon-to-be husband, Brandon Blumhardt. Aside from leading teenagers in their walks with God each Friday night, I am also a full-time NICU nurse.  Having graduated from Lipscomb University School of Nursing in 2019, nursing has always been one of my passions.  I have been so fortunate to now be able to care for precious tiny newborns for a living!  I also enjoy singing and playing keys, and one of my favorite ways to spend a free afternoon is baking.  Cookies, cinnamon rolls, and banana bread are my specialties!  I absolutely love our youth ministry, and it fills my heart to journey alongside our teenagers as they discover their identity, their purpose, and the role of the holy spirit in their lives.

What quality/trait do you admire most?

Kindness is my favorite attribute to see in others.  It warms people's hearts, and it's joyfully contagious!

Annoyances:

One of my biggest annoyances is when people are not respectful of my time. I am the truest type A, so punctuality is huge for me!  If I had to list one more, I would say when people are lazy and wait around for others to do a job they could perfectly well do themselves.

Most traumatic experience:

I don't have memory of it, but I almost choked to death when I was 2! I pulled a barrette out of my hair and tried to swallow it in a Toys-R-Us. Thankfully my nurse-mother knew the Heimlich. :)

Favourite Websites

Pinterest, Amazon, Target, and Joy the Baker

One of your biggest mistakes:

Thinking I was mature enough to date boys at age 16, letting fear hold me back from places God was calling me to, and not seeking godly counsel through my teenage years when I needed it most.

Favourite Vacation Spot:

Rosemary beach, Annapolis, Maryland, Washington D.C., Seattle

Dream Job:
I have been so blessed - my current job in the NICU has been my dream for a very long time!  But if I could dream even bigger, I would say going part-time as a NICU RN to become a mom and raise kiddos, as well as further invest my time into ministry. :)

Favourite TV shows, Books or Movies:

Books- Blue Nights by Joan Didion, Screwtape Letters by C.S. Lewis, the Divergent trilogy, Love Lives Here by Maria Goff

TV shows - This is Us, The Office

Movies - The Intern, You've Got Mail, The Holiday, pretty much any feel-good movie.

Pastimes:

Baking, playing piano, singing, writing, cleaning/organizing my life, exploring my home city

Music:

Johnnyswim, Allen Stone, Mumford and Sons, Coldplay, John Mayer, The Paper Kites, Bethel, Hillsong United, Phil Whickham, Maggie Rogers

Favourite Food:

Three-way tie between mashed potatoes, fish tacos, and grilled cheese sandwiches w/ avocado. :)
