An Interview With

Bryan Segars

Bryan grew up watching his grandfather (Frederico Tiribassi) cook in his Boston bakery and his Auntie Pal (Palemino Femino) make pasta with the same rolling pin her mother brought to the United States from Central Italy. This was clearly the start of his love for food and hospitality. Now you can find Bryan serving his team of over 200 employees as Director of Restaurants at Gaylord Opryland, where he earned the coveted Restaurant General Manager of the Year Award for the State of Tennessee by the American Hotel & Motel Association in 2014. Bryan started his career in hospitality working for the Christian Broadcasting Network at the Founders Inn and Conference Center in VA, Beach, VA, where he met a young grad student and part time server with a love of the stage. That aspiring starlet suspected that she might have caught her boss’s eye when their work schedules, which Bryan was responsible for making, started to coincide. Wedding bells soon followed for Bryan and Catherine and the Segars' production is still going strong after 21 years. Together, this couple is a tour de force of creative culinary and performing arts power, birthing their own dinner theater troupe which now boasts four members: Afton, Bennett, Avonlea, and Weston.

Bryan is tremendously loyal as evidenced by his longstanding tenure with the Founders Inn and now Gaylord Opryland, and his lifelong devotion to the New York Mets. He stuck with his favorite team through the ugly years in the 1990’s and has truly earned the right to enjoy their more recent success. In his spare time, Bryan loves to hike, cook, golf, play softball, and spend time with his family.

An Interview With

Catherine Segars

Singing in the shower as a child became singing on stage in college. And that became a vibrant career as an actress, singer, writer, and publicist in Hampton Roads, VA, after graduating with a Masters Degree in Performing Arts from Regent University. Multiple awards for acting and playwriting followed as Catherine pursued her passion for Shakespeare, Broadway musicals, and comedy improv. She managed Slaphappy Comedy Improv in Virginia Beach, VA, and was a member of Improv Nashville before auditioning for her greatest role of all—motherhood! With Bryan, her incredibly supportive husband of 21 years, at her side, Catherine now uses her theatrical skills as a home-schooling mama to train up her 4 children in the way they should go. (Proverbs 22:6) Team Segars, who attends Classical Conversations in Donelson, TN, is rounded out by Afton, Bennett, Avonlea, and Weston. Oh, and Leo (their pet leopard gecko).

Catherine has a tremendous passion to promote Biblical literacy and loves nothing more than digging deep into a passage of Scripture to teach God’s Word.
