An Interview with 

Kevin Parker

Kevin Parker is a native of Nashville Tennessee. He and his wife Christina have a blended family of 7. He and his wife are very active in the homeschooling community having served for over 15 years teaching elementary aged children. Kevin enjoys spending time serving others and researching Bible topics. Currently Kevin is involved in prison outreach ministry. He has a heart of evangelism to reach the lost and the hurting. He enjoys teaching the Bible to new believers. He loves to travel and experience new things. Currently he is a ministry student and will graduate in the year 2017 with a certificate in Christian Evangelism. Kevin’s ultimate desire is to serve God and the people around him for the rest of his life.



What quality/trait do you admire most?  

People who have a team work perspective and like to help others when they see someone struggling.

 

Annoyances:  

Arrogance, people who will not listen because they judge you by your appearance.


Most traumatic experience:  

Having been born with the learning disability of dyslexia which caused me a lot of grief in school. I think and learn differently than others.

Some of your biggest mistakes: 

Not pursuing a secondary education because of the fear that I was not smart enough to learn. I am now enrolled in a ministry school and will graduate in a year. 

 

Favourite Vacation Spot: 

South Carolina (the beach), Owego New York, (my wife’s home town.) 

 

Dream Job: 

Working in the health care field with disabled and infirmed individuals and being paid well to do it. (I work 2 jobs at the present moment.)


Favourite TV shows, Books or Movies:  

I do not watch a lot of TV, but I read anything dealing with the Bible, “Organic Discipleship”, “Disciples are Made not Born”. I also like romantic movies like Titanic and Les Miserables. I like all fantasy/ Sci- Fi movies like Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, The Hobbit, Narnia, etc….

 

Pastimes: 

I love spending time with my kids and my wife. I enjoy building models and puzzles as well as going to the movies, playing miniature golf with my kids or going on excursions with them. (My love language is quality time). 


Music: 

I enjoy listening to all kinds of worship music. I like to listen to skillet, News Boys and Elevation Worship


Favourite Food:  

All kinds sea food and fish, country cooking, Italian, Chinese, American, pretty much everything.



An Interview with

Christina Parker

Christina Parker is a native of upstate New York and was divinely led to Nashville, Tennessee twenty years ago where she met her husband Kevin. She and he husband have a blended family of 7 and have been home educating for 15 years. She is very active as a leader and a teacher in the homeschool community, having taught art, history, science, health and personal finance. She is a self-taught artist specializing in painting murals. Currently Christina is an adult student of Trevecca Nazarene University. She will graduate in the year 2017 with a Bachelor's degree in Christian Ministry. It is her hope that she will gain additional education as a Christian counselor. This year Kevin and Christina will welcome their first grandchild to their family. It is her ultimate desire to serve God and her family all the days of her life using the gifts which the Lord has given to her to advance his kingdom on earth. 


What quality/trait do you admire most?  

Compassion, mercy, generosity, and being genuine. 


Annoyances:  

Disorder of any kind, vanity, Nashville traffic, and people that talk too much about themselves and do not get to the point.


Most traumatic experience:  

My parent’s divorcing and losing my home and family as a child.

Some of your biggest mistakes: 

Not taking my own talents and abilities seriously enough to pursue them when I was young. Not completing my college degree when I was young and having to go back to college at the age of 44. Praise the Lord I am almost done! Spending too much time worrying about my appearance and what others think of me. ( I have put away the guilt and vanity envelope).


Favourite Vacation Spot:  

Ludlow Vermont, ( I am a former snow skier) , Owego New York, ( My home town), and Blue Mountain Beach at Fort Walton Florida, and anyplace with a mountain view where I can go hiking or sit on the balcony with a good cup of coffee and my journal.

 

Dream Job: 

Working with college age individuals as an educational advisor, career counselor, or guidance counselor, or being an adjunct professor working in an online college forum.


Favourite TV shows, Books or Movies:  

I love documentaries and history programs. Little House on the prairie (program), The Walton’s. I love reading books on pioneer history of our country, and natural health and healing. Some favorite movies are Sense and Sensibility, Schindler’s List, Les Miserables, Pride and Prejudice, The Princess Bride, Braveheart, Narnia, Amazing Grace, October Baby. I love Hallmark Movies at Christmas time. 


Pastimes: 

I enjoy being creative - journaling, gardening, reading, sewing, painting, and doing research on the things that I find interesting.


Music: 

I enjoy listening to worship and classical music. Some favorites are Jesus Culture, Hillsong, Elevation Worship, House Fires, I love the cello and the piano for instrumentals. I enjoy listening to nature music. 


Favourite Food:  

I love salads of just about every kind. I eat salad every day. My favorite is O’ Charley's Pecan Crusted Chicken salad. Love Taziki's chicken salad and cucumber salad. Also, I do not eat it often, but having grown up near the Northeast Atlantic I love lobster tail. I also like to eat sweets but I try to avoid them since they are my weakness.
